Eat-ernal Life: Food, Health, the Bible, and Why They Matter in Youth Ministry
Research indicates that young adults who regularly participate in church or Bible study are 50% more likely than other Americans to be obese. Yet pizza, candy, and soda continue to be the main menu in many of our youth groups. This complex epidemic has multiple causes and possible solutions, but it is clear that the Church has forgotten the centrality of food and health in the Biblical narrative and in the lives of God’s people. This discussion will integrate sociology, theology, and practical ideas that will challenge us to imagine a new way forward as we serve our students, our communities, and the world.
