About FPC-Missoula
First Presbyterian Church of Missoula, Montana, is a loving and welcoming body of believers with a multi-generational membership of approx 500. We are the church of “A River Runs Through It,” the novella written by Norman McLean, which was later made into a popular movie. This is not our primary identity but it is a piece of our history many people find interesting. Our primary identity and purpose is to celebrate and experience LIFE IN CHRIST, LIFE TOGETHER, LIFE FOR OTHERS. We are a church that thrives on engaging in authentic relationship with one another and reaching out through missional opportunities in our community, in other parts of the U.S., and globally.
We celebrate worship with two services on Sundays, including a 9:30 traditional and 11:00 contemporary service. Children’s programming on Sundays includes nursery for infants and toddlers during both services; Sunday school for pre-school thru 5th grade during the 9:30 service; and “children’s celebration” during the 11:00 service, which includes learning activities for combined age groups. We transition to a single, 9:30 service during summer (June-Aug) and offer a simplified children’s program during our summer worship schedule. We currently average 37 children on Sundays during the regular school year and a fluctuating number of children during the summer. Our volunteer staff currently includes 30 involved in Sunday school and children’s celebration, and existing leadership is actively recruiting additional volunteers. We are committed to the investment of time and resources in our children’s ministries in order to deepen Christ-centered relationships with and among our existing children and their families and to reach out to more families with the love of Christ.

ABOUT YORKMINSTER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
As a church we are strongly connected to our reformed theology and filled with the Holy Spirit.
We are in an area that has a diverse population due to some military installations nearby. We also have a large NASA research facility in our area as well as some large corporate research and development institutions.
Our area tends to have a lot of people with very high academic and professional achievements as well as many higher-ranking military officers. Our church attracts a good cross section of that population as well as some retired military officers and retired NASA engineers.
We have a mixture of families who have had roots in this area for generations as well as families who are here for only a season due to service in the military or employment that tends to require relocation as they advance and are promoted.
We are not a country club church but do value and invest in building Christian Community. We feel the need to continually challenge ourselves to reach out further in our outreach and to not allow ourselves to grow complacent with the status quo. We take seriously our role as disciples of Jesus Christ.
There is some ethic diversity in our community as a result of the military, NASA and other corporate members of our community recruiting the best talent from around the world. Our church does not currently reflect the same level of ethnic diversity as our larger community does but we would like to explore ways for that to become our reality.
We are clearly Presbyterian, not Pentecostal, but we hunger for the leadership and power of the Holy Spirit to fill our church, inform our decisions and empower our ministry.
We value Youth Ministry as an essential part of our overall ministry. No more or less important than any other. We view youth ministry as an integral part of our body as apposed to a separate entity.
